what Walk-About clients are saying about our services:

11/29/06
Ed, As we're fast approaching the holiday season I wanted to offer my heartfelt (and long overdue) appreciation of the devotion and care you provided for my bud Flo. As it will soon be the one year anniversary of his passing, the nearly 15 years he warmed my life with unfettered affection was in no doubt made prolonged by your 7+ years of devoted service. When we first moved to Boston from NYC about 8 years ago, the pressures of a Wall Street position were complicated by the need to find proper care for Flo. Luckily, you were referred to me by a friend and after our first meeting it was clear to me I was very fortunate indeed. Your professional demeanor and clear passion for animals made my decision simple. And I never had any regrets. Your incredible flexibility in walks and overnights made my travel and work schedule possible. Without your constant support for Flo I would have been in many a difficult spot. I can clearly recollect calling you from Reagan National Airport after my flight was cancelled - the last flight of the day and you left your home and made the near hour round trip to collect and shelter Flo for the night. Ultimately, you were also there during and after the most painful decision to end Flo's suffering from his internal failing organs. Such dedication is increasingly rare these days, and my appreciation of this is hard to depict in just any email. I still get choked up thinking about how difficult that was and how you were right there for him, for me. And your support didn't end after the walks did. Your calls made the memories that much more enjoyable of what was so much more than just a pet.

So please enjoy the holidays as you continue to provide an absolute critical service and I hope that any other client who cared as much for their pup as I did are lucky enough to come across the little yellow SUV.

Ed and Jen have cared for my dogs for over seven years. Not too long after I hired Walk-about to walk my dog while I was at work, Chloe became ill. Ed carried her in and out of our condo building and ensured she was comfortable. I received daily assessments and updates as to her condition. He even recommended a wonderful “traveling” vet who visited our dog in the comfort of our home.

Later, Ed cared for my two younger pups while I was at work. It was also wonderful to know that, if I needed to travel for several days, Rags and Myrtle would be well cared for by Ed and Jen. In fact, they loved going there and get excited when they see Ed to this day.

Thank you so much, Ed and Jen, for all the years of care you have given to our family.

In 1997 my husband and I both became ill and were unable to walk our dachshund, Wimsey. Lucky for us, Ed Walters came to the rescue. Right from the start, we had the utmost confidence in Ed's ability to care for Wimsey. After we got back on our feet and moved to the suburbs, we decided to make Ed a part of our family, and he has been with us ever since. Since then, we have adopted a second dachshund, Tootsie. Over the years, he has gone out of his way on countless occasions to make sure our dogs and our home are safe while we are at work. Ed works with our veterinarian and groomer when we are unable to do so. We board with him knowing the dogs are safe and happy while we relax and enjoy extended overseas vacations. Ed is a truly special person who loves animals, and if you ever see him with your pets, you will see them react to him in kind. Wimsey and Tootsie love Ed and so will your pets!

I always know my dogs are in the best hands when they are at Walk-About. They treat them like their own. They form fast and tight bonds with my dogs and I know that whatever the circumstances, they will be there for my most precious assets!!

Sandra Dunbar, Cambridge, MA "I was very fortunate to have found Ed Walters (Walk-About) a year and a half ago to help me care for my dog, Scout. Scout is a gregarious Siberian Husky and my first dog. He was then four months old and we were both having a tough time getting used to our new living arrangements. I liked having carpeting. Scout insisted that we have a bare plywood sub-floor. I wanted to keep the upholstery on the couch. Scout preferred it shredded and spread around the room. Ed helped us get through this ordeal by guiding us through the training process, giving extra care and attention to Scout while I was at work, and even cleaning up the messes that Scout left inside my condo. Ed did so much more than I had expected during this tough time. One of the most import things that he did is to recognize that Scout is a great dog, despite his troubles adjusting, and encouraged me not to give up. Since then Scout and I have learned to live together happily and harmoniously. We both like our new floors and furniture, but Ed continues to exceed my expectations. Ed truly understands what it means to provide excellent, customer-focused service. His professionalism can be held up as an example for professionals in all fields. His communication skills and reliability set him apart. And then there are all the extras...monthly trips to the groomer, digitial home videos, calendars, last minute boarding, and treats - for me and for Scout. Ed is truly remarkable. If you want to see what Scout "the Terrible" looks like you can view his photo here."
